DUBAI MALL SET FOR A MAJOR EXPANSION WITH $ 408 MILLION INVESTMENT

Dubai Mall, one of the world's largest shopping and entertainment hubs is set to undergo a significant transformation. Emaar Properties, the real estate developer behind this architectural marvel has announced a 1.5 billion dirhams ($408 million) investment to elevate the mall's luxury offerings.
This expansion will introduce 240 new luxury retail and dining options adding to the mall’s extensive lineup of over 1,200 outlets. The decision to expand comes as visitor numbers soared to 105 million in 2023 marking a 19% increase from the previous year.
Dubai Mall already boasts an impressive array of attractions, including a 10-million-liter aquarium, an Olympic-sized ice-skating rink, an indoor Chinatown, a virtual reality park, an indoor SEGA theme park and one of the world’s largest candy stores. The mall is adjacent to the record-setting Dubai Fountain and the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa. It houses a digital art museum, a 155-million-year-old dinosaur skeleton and a 26-screen cinema.
The Fashion Avenue, opened in 2018 further enhances Dubai Mall’s reputation for luxury and innovation. Emaar’s founder, Mohammed Alabbar described the expansion as "a great addition to one of the most visited sites in the world."
According to the Majid Al Futtaim Group’s annual retail report, retail spending in the UAE rose by 14% last year. This growth was driven mainly by fashion (up 31%), general retail (up 16%) and leisure and entertainment (up 15%).

Dubai achieved its best annual tourism performance last year with international tourist arrivals increasing by 19.4% to 17.15 million. This expansion underscores Dubai’s ambition to remain a leader in global innovation and culture solidifying its position as a top global destination.
Dubai is already home to remarkable attractions like the world’s deepest dive pool and the Dubai Mall itself which is the second-largest mall in the world. Since its opening in 2008, Dubai Mall has become one of the most visited tourist attractions earning the title of the most visited place on earth in 2023.
