UAE INTRODUCES 10 YEAR BLUE RESIDENCY VISA: A BOLD STEP TOWARDS ENVIORNMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced a new 10-year Blue Residency Visa to its long-term residency options demonstrating its commitment to environmental protection and sustainability. This visa rewards individuals actively contributing to environmental preservation efforts.

Part of the UAE's 2024 plan known as the Year of Sustainability, the Blue Residency Visa aims to attract global environmental experts to continue their work in the UAE. Prime Minister of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid al Maktoum, announced this visa on social media emphasizing the UAE's dedication to sustainability.

The Blue Residency Visa is open to supporters of environmental action including members of international organizations, companies, associations, non-governmental organizations, global award winners and distinguished activists and researchers in environmental work.

This strategic move aims to retain individuals passionate about environmental stewardship and further enhance the UAE's sustainability efforts. It complements existing long-term visas like the Green Visa for skilled workers and the Golden Visa for investors and talented students.

Ahmad Bin Shafar, President of Dubai District Cooling Operators Association (DCOA) and CEO of Empower predicts a construction boom with the Blue Residency Visa. He highlights the sector's role in sustainability, mentioning practices like green urban planning, eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient processes.

Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, UAE Special Envoy for Climate Change and COP28 President, emphasized the UAE's leadership in sustainability and its role in addressing climate change through initiatives like the Blue Residency Visa.

Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, reiterated the UAE's commitment to enhancing climate action and environmental conservation efforts through the Blue Residency Visa.

The Blue Residency Visa strengthens the UAE's position as a global hub for sustainability and supports its efforts to achieve Net Zero by 2050.
